Opening Notes

A lot has been going on, many features have been upgraded, updated, added and reinstated. My new host ( www.hostrocket.com ) continues to perform well past expectations, they even send out a weekly newsletter that just last week said "Our main web server was down twice this past week totaling approximately 2 1/2 - 3 hours. We realize this is unacceptable, and are working to make sure it does not happen again." Not only do they report how long Cavies Galore was down, but later they even mention why we were down and what steps are being taken to prevent this from continuing to happen! Host Rocket has turned out to be such a high quality host that even the Cavy Compendium ( www.cavycompendium.com ) has followed suit and switched over after their old host crashed one time too many.

Some old timers probably remember the days when Cavies Galore offered yourname@caviesgalore.com This was a free service provided by a host that specialized in this area. Unluckily the host decided to start spamming e-mail accounts to generate a larger cash flow. This was unacceptable to us and we terminated our affiliation with them. Since then we became caught up in a hosting snafu and e-mail was put on the back burner as we transferred the entire site, over 98 pages of static content, and thousands of threads from the Cavy Forums, to a new server.
We are proud to announce that free e-mail accounts are once again being offered by a new provider. If you wish to use the same account that you had before, just sign up with your old name. Accounts are offered on a first come first serve basis and nothing was transferred from the old e-mail accounts.

2. Cavy Village Screen Saver

Another screen saver is available for your viewing pleasure. Watch as cavies romp through a beautiful village. This wonderful addition was created by Chris, our resident programmer. Plans are also in the works for another cavy game, stay tuned.

3. Petstore Complaint Letters
-----------------
If you've ever been to a store where cavies were mistreated and been told the manager wasn't there, you will love customizable complaint letters. You can select from a list of many common problems that cavies could have in a pet store setting and mail the letter to the store. Pet stores take letters very seriously and sending them a well written, professional sounding letter will increase your chance of them correcting their wrongs. A special thanks to Kleenmama, an avid member of the Cavy Forums, for providing the letters.

4. Upgraded the Cavy Forums
-----------------
The Cavy Forums continue to grow and expand. There are over 1,000 registered members. Moderators continually find the forums are beginning to police themselves and have adopted a more hands off approach in managing the board. The current moderators are (in no particular order); thepetlady, Evangeline, Lynx, pinta, and AmandaK. The latest version of the forums has been installed and the company providing the script is working on a major release that could speed up the forums even more in the coming months.

5. Cavy Poll

The Cavy Poll has been updated. The current question is: Which type of cavy has a better temperament? This question was submitted by Laura. The previous poll had 237 responses.
