Wanda Curran is a writer, a breeder, and a 4-H supporter. Wanda first learned about cavies when her daughter joined a local 4-H club. At one point Wanda had 60 cavies and lent them out to poor families that wanted to breed, but could only afford to own one cavy for an extended period of time. She has been involved in 4-H for over 12 years and her first 4-H project had one handout on cavies, this grew to over 400 pages, which was made into her two books.

Wanda has written "Your Guinea Pig, a Kids Guide to Raising and Showing" and "Raising a Healthy Guinea Pig". The main complaint about her books is the kids guide was really meant for all ages as it contains a plethora of information and doesn't over simplify.

Wanda has bred almost all the varieties of cavies. Many of her Silkies received awards at the American Cavy Breeders National Show. Wanda is a registered Respiratory Therapist and has worked in the field for almost 10 years. She doesn't operate an official rescue shelter, but does take in cavies from time to time. Wanda even judges non sanctioned cavy shows for local 4-H clubs. She enjoys working with kids and educating them about cavies.
