Cavies  An Elegy for Agamemnon
Home > Cavy Prose > An Elegy for Agamemnon

Agamemnon
the guinea pig
a genius among
cavies
a houdini of sorts

The elegant good looks
of a tomato-loving
furball
very attractive
with his wings and train

An often noble stance
looking out at his world
a brick perch
or lifting a claw
to not share the water

Purring or whistling
as occasion requires
water droplet
communication
into our ears

Micro fracture paralysis
limping and dragging
mouth out of order
struggling head up
unwilling last gasp

Empty a box
to fill with him
soft bedding and hay
for final rest
buried under stones

Not enough time
under the sun
eating grass
with fellow cavy
loving us

Born November 05, 1996
Died November 06, 1998
too young
